The Marching Band performs at various events in the Fargo-Moorhead area as well as every home football game. The Marching Band is a non-audition group which begins in the fall.
The Marching Band begins with five days of intensive rehearsal to teach fundamentals, drill, and music. The band then meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evening for an hour and 45 minutes at Dakotah Field. On Saturday, in the morning before games, members meet to clean and teach drill. The band meets an hour and a half before a game at the music building to do last minute music rehearsing and then proceeds to the Fargodome to march a pregame show and halftime show and give a little noise between plays.
The Gold Star Marching Band got its beginnings in the fall of 1903 playing from a stagecoach in a parade advertising a game. It was at this time that the Gold Star Band began its relationship with the mighty Bison football team. The band now plays for all the home football games and travels to one out-of-town game each fall and consists of the instrumental section, the flag corp, and occasionally a dance line. 2007-2008 Drill To find other drill, visit our media archives. |
